For the second consecutive year, a group of Impact360 of middle and high school students attended the Youth Bike Summit. Nine students and two staff represented the Denver cycling community in New York City at the conference, February 15-18th. Over the weekend students participated in workshops, discussions, collaborations and even a biking tour of Queens. Students networked with peers from all across the country and united around a love of bikes and passion for cycling advocacy. In March, students will have the opportunity to make the local connection sharing what they learned at a meeting with Bicycle Colorado.
In addition to attending the conference, this trip provided students with a rare opportunity for travel outside the state of Colorado. For some it was their first plane ride, first time traveling without family, or first time on the subway. Students sampled Greek, Italian, and Japanese food and of course authentic New York pizza. They were able to visit Broadway, experience Times Square and explore Central Park. Everyone agrees it was a trip they will never forget and we’ve already got our sights set on Atlanta for Bike Summit 2020!
